<p>The <b>STDEV.S</b> function is one of the statistical functions. It is used to estimate standard deviation based on a sample (ignores logical values and text in the sample).</p>
<p>where <b><em>number-1(2)</em></b> is up to 255 numeric values entered manually or included into the cells you make reference to.</p>
<pclass="note"><b>Note:</b> if a reference argument contains text, logical values, or empty cells, the function will ignore those values, but treat the cells with the zero values.</p>
<p>To apply the <b>STDEV.S</b> function,</p>
<ol>
<li>select the cell where you wish to display the result,</li>
<li>click the <b>Insert function</b><imgalt="Insert function icon"src="../images/insertfunction.png"/> icon situated at the top toolbar,
<br/>or right-click within a selected cell and select the <b>Insert Function</b> option from the menu,
<br/>or click the <imgalt="Function icon"src="../images/function.png"/> icon situated at the formula bar,
</li>
<li>select the <b>Statistical</b> function group from the list,</li>
<li>click the <b>STDEV.S</b> function,</li>
<li>enter the required arguments separating them by commas or select a range of cells with the mouse,</li>
<li>press the <b>Enter</b> button.</li>
</ol>
<p>The result will be displayed in the selected cell.</p>
