<para><function>glGetVertexAttribPointerv</function> returns
pointer information. <parameter>index</parameter> is the generic
vertex attribute to be queried, <parameter>pname</parameter> is
a symbolic constant indicating the pointer to be returned, and
<parameter>params</parameter> is a pointer to a location in
which to place the returned data.</para>
<para>The <parameter>pointer</parameter> returned is a byte offset into the data store of the buffer object
that was bound to the <constant>GL_ARRAY_BUFFER</constant> target
(see <citerefentry><refentrytitle>glBindBuffer</refentrytitle></citerefentry>) when the desired pointer was previously specified.

<para>The state returned is retrieved from the currently bound vertex array object.</para>
<para>The initial value for each pointer is 0.</para>

<para><constant>GL_INVALID_OPERATION</constant> is generated if no vertex array object is currently bound.</para>
<para><constant>GL_INVALID_VALUE</constant>
is generated if <parameter>index</parameter>
is greater than or equal to <constant>GL_MAX_VERTEX_ATTRIBS</constant>.</para>
<para><constant>GL_INVALID_ENUM</constant>
is generated if <parameter>pname</parameter>
is not an accepted value.</para>
