The .pl version is now a compat wrapper around the .py script. Better call the
.py script directly.

Adds an additional boundary check to the test parameter bytes_arg in
generate_random() in test_suite_psa_crypto.function.
This is to check against a possible underflow, and to avoid a warning,
"argument ... exceeds maximum object size", (-Werror=alloc-size-larger-than)
that GCC 7 generates.

For this test it is good to have a handshake messages length as big as
possible, so for the server the certificate verification mode is
changed from default NONE to REQUIRED. It requires the client to send
certificate date to the server during handshake

Create and provide a structure with default options so that the caller won't have
to pass all of the parameters each time the handshake is called. In the future
this can be improved so that the options are passed as a string, just like in
ssl-opt.sh.

The ssl-opt.sh test cases using session resumption tend to fail occasionally
on the CI due to a race condition in how ssl_server2 and ssl_client2 handle
the reconnection cycle.
The server does the following in order:
- S1 send application data
- S2 send a close_notify alert
- S3 close the client socket
- S4 wait for a "new connection" (actually a new datagram)
- S5 start a handshake
The client does the following in order:
- C1 wait for and read application data from the server
- C2 send a close_notify alert
- C3 close the server socket
- C4 reset session data and re-open a server socket
- C5 start a handshake
If the client has been able to send the close_notify (C2) and if has been
delivered to the server before if closes the client socket (S3), when the
server reaches S4, the datagram that we start the new connection will be the
ClientHello and everything will be fine.
However if S3 wins the race and happens before the close_notify is delivered,
in S4 the close_notify is what will be seen as the first datagram in a new
connection, and then in S5 this will rightfully be rejected as not being a
valid ClientHello and the server will close the connection (and go wait for
another one). The client will then fail to read from the socket and exit
non-zero and the ssl-opt.sh harness will correctly report this as a failure.
In order to avoid this race condition in test using ssl_client2 and
ssl_server2, this commits introduces a new command-line option
skip_close_notify to ssl_client2 and uses it in all ssl-opt.sh tests that use
session resumption with DTLS and ssl_server2.
This works because ssl_server2 knows how many messages it expects in each
direction and in what order, and closes the connection after that rather than
relying on close_notify (which is also why there was a race in the first
place).
Tests that use another server (in practice there are two of them, using
OpenSSL as a server) wouldn't work with skip_close_notify, as the server won't
close the connection until the client sends a close_notify, but for the same
reason they don't need it (there is no race between receiving close_notify and
closing as the former is the cause of the later).
An alternative approach would be to make ssl_server2 keep the connection open
until it receives a close_notify. Unfortunately it creates problems for tests
where we simulate a lossy network, as the close_notify could be lost (and the
client can't retransmit it). We could modify udp_proxy with an option to never
drop alert messages, but when TLS 1.3 comes that would no longer work as the
type of messages will be encrypted.

(Only the top-level ones, ie, for each call to eg asn1_get_mpi(), ensure
there's at least one test case that makes this call fail in one way, but don't
test the various ways to make asn1_get_mpi fail - that should be covered
elsewhere.)
- the new checks added by the previous commits needed exercising
- existing tests sometimes had wrong descriptions or where passing for the
wrong reason (eg with the "length mismatch" test, the function actually
failed before reaching the length check)
- while at it, add tests for the rest as well
The valid minimal-size key was generated with:
openssl genrsa 128 2>/dev/null | openssl rsa -outform der 2>/dev/null | xxd -p
Exercise the library functions with calloc returning NULL for a size
of 0. Make this a separate job with UBSan (and ASan) to detect
places where we try to dereference the result of calloc(0) or to do
things like
buf = calloc(size, 1);
if (buf == NULL && size != 0) return INSUFFICIENT_MEMORY;
memcpy(buf, source, size);
which has undefined behavior when buf is NULL at the memcpy call even
if size is 0.
This is needed because other test components jobs either use the system
malloc which returns non-NULL on Linux and FreeBSD, or the
memory_buffer_alloc malloc which returns NULL but does not give as
useful feedback with ASan (because the whole heap is a single C
object).
As the SSL programs, like ssl_client2 and ssl_server2, are dependent on
SSL and therefore about to be removed, the only consumer of query_config
is the query_compile_time_config test. As such, it makes sense to move
query_config to be next to what uses it.
Goals:
* Build with common compilers with common options, so that we don't
miss a (potentially useful) warning only triggered with certain
build options.
* A previous commit removed -O0 test jobs, leaving only the one with
-m32. We have inline assembly that is disabled with -O0, falling
back to generic C code. This commit restores a test that runs the
generic C code on a 64-bit platform.

Let the caller decide what certificates and keys are loaded (EC/RSA)
instead of loading both for the server, and an unspecified one
for the client. Use only DER encoding.
For each of the crypto-only presets, run the build and check that the
resulting libmbedx509 and libmbedtls are empty.
Don't bother testing, because for each crypto-only preset, another
component builds that plus the x509 and tls parts and tests
everything.
We already have a specific component in all.sh for testing SSLv3, we don't
need to also test it in components that aren't specifically about it.
Previously config.py full enabled SSLv3, but it no longer does since it is
deprecated.
Change the encoding of key types, EC curve families and DH group
families to make the low-order bit a parity bit (with even parity).
This ensures that distinct key type values always have a Hamming
distance of at least 2, which makes it easier for implementations to
resist single bit flips.
All key types now have an encoding on 32 bits where the bottom 16 bits
are zero. Change to using 16 bits only.
Keep 32 bits for key types in storage, but move the significant
half-word from the top to the bottom.
Likewise, change EC curve and DH group families from 32 bits out of
which the top 8 and bottom 16 bits are zero, to 8 bits only.
Reorder psa_core_key_attributes_t to avoid padding.
Remove the values of curve encodings that are based on the TLS registry
and include the curve size, keeping only the new encoding that merely
encodes a curve family in 8 bits.
Keep the old constant names as aliases for the new values and
deprecate the old names.
Define constants for ECC curve families and DH group families. These
constants have 0x0000 in the lower 16 bits of the key type.
Support these constants in the implementation and in the PSA metadata
tests.
Switch the slot management and secure element driver HAL tests to the
new curve encodings. This requires SE driver code to become slightly
more clever when figuring out the bit-size of an imported EC key since
it now needs to take the data size into account.
Switch some documentation to the new encodings.
Remove the macro PSA_ECC_CURVE_BITS which can no longer be implemented.
Change the representation of psa_ecc_curve_t and psa_dh_group_t from
the IETF 16-bit encoding to a custom 24-bit encoding where the upper 8
bits represent a curve family and the lower 16 bits are the key size
in bits. Families are based on naming and mathematical similarity,
with sufficiently precise families that no two curves in a family have
the same bit size (for example SECP-R1 and SECP-R2 are two different
families).
As a consequence, the lower 16 bits of a key type value are always
either the key size or 0.
Don't rely on the bit size encoded in the PSA curve identifier, in
preparation for removing that.
For some inputs, the error code on EC key creation changes from
PSA_ERROR_INVALID_ARGUMENT to PSA_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED or vice versa.
There will be further such changes in subsequent commits.
Key types are now encoded through a category in the upper 4 bits (bits
28-31) and a type-within-category in the next 11 bits (bits 17-27),
with bit 16 unused and bits 0-15 only used for the EC curve or DH
group.
For symmetric keys, bits 20-22 encode the block size (0x0=stream,
0x3=8B, 0x4=16B).
The splitting of this test into two versions depending on whether SHA-1 was
allowed by the server was a mistake in
5d2511c4d4 - the test has nothing to do with
SHA-1 in the first place, as the server doesn't request a certificate from
the client so it doesn't matter if the server accepts SHA-1 or not.
psa_hash_compare is tested for good cases and invalid-signature cases
in hash_compute_compare. Also test invalid-argument cases. Also run a
few autonomous test cases with valid arguments.
While the whole script makes (often implicit) assumptions about the version of
GnuTLS used, generally speaking it should work out of the box with the version
packaged on our reference testing platform, which is Ubuntu 16.04 so far.
With the update from Jan 8 2020 (3.4.10-4ubuntu1.6), the patches for rejecting
SHA-1 in certificate signatures were backported, so we should avoid presenting
SHA-1 signed certificates to a GnuTLS peer in ssl-opt.sh.
Because two buffers were aliased too early in the code, it was possible that
after an allocation failure, free() would be called twice for the same pointer.
Previously mocked non-blocking read/write was returning 0 when buffer was empty/full. That was causing ERR_SSL_CONN_EOF error in tests which was using these mocked callbacks. Beside that non-blocking read/write was returning ERR_SSL_WANT_READ/_WRITE depending on block pattern set by test design. Such behavior forced to redesign of these functions so that they could be used in other tests
This error occurs when free space in the buffer is in the middle (the buffer has come full circle) and function mbedtls_test_buffer_put is called. Then the arguments for memcpy are calculated incorrectly and program ends with segmentation fault
Before, the string to parse may contain trailing garbage (there was
never more than one byte), and there was a separate argument
indicating the length of the content. Now, the string to parse is the
exact content, and the test code runs an extra test step with a
trailing byte added.
If there was a fatal error (bizarre behavior from the standard
library, or missing test data file), execute_tests did not close the
outcome file. Fix this.
Fix get_len_step when buffer_size==0. The intent of this test is to
ensure (via static or runtime buffer overflow analysis) that
mbedtls_asn1_get_len does not attempt to access beyond the end of the
buffer. When buffer_size is 0 (reached from get_len when parsing a
1-byte buffer), the buffer is buf[1..1] because allocating a 0-byte
buffer might yield a null pointer rather than a valid pointer. In this
case the end of the buffer is p==buf+1, not buf+buffer_size which is
buf+0.
The test passed because calling mbedtls_asn1_get_len(&p,end,...) with
end < p happens to work, but this is not guaranteed.
This is useful to inspect what the script does manually, in particular
to check that expected values do get tested. --keep-c provides the
same information but in a way that's harder to access.
Filter out non-ASCII characters in automatically processed headers.
Do this in a way that minimizes the code change: keep manipulating
strings, but strip off non-ASCII characters when reading lines, which
should only remove characters in comments that we don't parse anyway.
In a unit test we want to avoid accessing the network. To test the
handshake in the unit test suite we need to implement a connection
between the server and the client. This socket implementation uses
two ring buffers to mock the transport layer.
In a unit test we want to avoid accessing the network. To test the
handshake in the unit test suite we need to implement a connection
between the server and the client. This ring buffer implementation will
serve as the said connection.
The new macro ASSERT_ALLOC allocates memory with mbedtls_calloc and
fails the test if the allocation fails. It outputs a null pointer if
the requested size is 0. It is meant to replace existing calls to
mbedtls_calloc.
We're going to create some edge cases where the attributes of a key
are not bitwise identical to the attributes passed during creation.
Have a test function ready for that.
When MBEDTLS_TEST_DEPRECATED is defined, run some additional tests to
validate deprecated PSA macros. We don't need to test deprecated
features extensively, but we should at least ensure that they don't
break the build.
Add some code to component_build_deprecated in all.sh to run these
tests with MBEDTLS_DEPRECATED_WARNING enabled. The tests are also
executed when MBEDTLS_DEPRECATED_WARNING and
MBEDTLS_DEPRECATED_REMOVED are both disabled.
Rename some macros and functions related to signature which are
changing as part of the addition of psa_sign_message and
psa_verify_message.
perl -i -pe '%t = (
PSA_KEY_USAGE_SIGN => PSA_KEY_USAGE_SIGN_HASH,
PSA_KEY_USAGE_VERIFY => PSA_KEY_USAGE_VERIFY_HASH,
PSA_ASYMMETRIC_SIGNATURE_MAX_SIZE => PSA_SIGNATURE_MAX_SIZE,
PSA_ASYMMETRIC_SIGN_OUTPUT_SIZE => PSA_SIGN_OUTPUT_SIZE,
psa_asymmetric_sign => psa_sign_hash,
psa_asymmetric_verify => psa_verify_hash,
); s/\b(@{[join("|", keys %t)]})\b/$t{$1}/ge' $(git ls-files . ':!:**/crypto_compat.h')
Move backward compatibility aliases to a separate header. Reserve
crypto_extra.h for implementation-specific extensions that we intend
to keep supporting.
This is better documentation for users. New users should simply ignore
backward compatibility aliases, and old users can look at
crypto_compat.h to see what is deprecated without bothering about new
features appearing in crypto_extra.h.
This facilitates maintenance because scripts such as
generate_psa_constants that want to ignore backward compability
aliases can simply exclude crypto_compat.h from their parsing.
When gathering test cases from test_suite_psa_crypto_metadata, look up
the test function explicitly. This way test_psa_constant_names will
error out if we add a new test function that needs coverage here.
This change highlights an omission in the previous version:
asymmetric_signature_wildcard was silently ignored as a source of
algorithm expressions to test. Fix that.
Key agreement algorithms were excluded back when they were constructed
with a macro conveying the key agreement itself taking the KDF as an
argument, because that was hard to support. Now the encoding has
changed and key agreement algorithms are constructed with
PSA_ALG_KEY_AGREEMENT taking two arguments, one that identifies the
raw key agreement and one that identifies the KDF. This is easy to
process, so add support.
Insist that test cases must only use macro names that are declared in
a header. This may catch errors such as not parsing the intended
files.
Make this check easily overridden in a derived class.
The size of the seedfile used by the entropy module when
MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_NV_SEED is enabled is 32 byte when
MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_FORCE_SHA256 is enabled or MBEDTLS_SHA512_C is
disabled, and 64 bytes otherwise. A larger seedfile is ok on
entry (the code just grabs the first N bytes), but a smaller seedfile
is not ok. Therefore, if you run a component with a 32-byte seedfile
and then a component with a 64-byte seedfile, the second component
fails in the unit tests (up to test_suite_entropy which erases the
seedfile and creates a fresh one).
This is ok up to now because we only enable MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_NV_SEED
together with MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_FORCE_SHA256. But it prevents enabling
MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_NV_SEED without MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_FORCE_SHA256.
To fix this, unconditionally create a seedfile before each component.
The test suites should always run self-tests for all enabled features.
Otherwise we miss failing self-tests in CI runs, because we don't
always run the selftest program independently.
There was one spurious dependency to remove:
MBEDTLS_CTR_DRBG_USE_128_BIT_KEY for ctr_drbg, which was broken but
has now been fixed.
Enabling MBEDTLS_MEMORY_BUFFER_ALLOC_C module together with
MBEDTLS_PLATFORM_MEMORY causes the library to use its own malloc
replacement. This makes memory management analyzers such as ASan
largely ineffective. We now test MBEDTLS_MEMORY_BUFFER_ALLOC_C
separately. Disable it in the "full" config.
This mirrors a change that was made in Mbed TLS on config.pl and had
not been ported to Mbed Crypto yet.
With this commit, config.py is aligned in Mbed Crypto and Mbed TLS.

The tests were not covering get for a symbol with a value. No symbol
has an uncommented value in the default config.h. (Actually there's
_CRT_SECURE_NO_DEPRECATE, but that's a bit of a hack that this script
is not expected to handle, so don't use it).
Add tests of "get FOO" after "set FOO" and "set FOO value", so that we
have coverage for "get FOO" when "FOO" has a value.
We currently test setting a symbol with a value even if it didn't
originally had one and vice versa. So there's no need to have separate
lists of symbols to test with. Just test everything we want to test
with each symbol.
Normally a valueless symbol remains valueless and a symbol with a
value keeps having one. But just in case a symbol does get changed
from valueless to having a value, make sure there's a space between
the symbol and the value. And if a symbol gets changed from having a
value to valueless, strip trailing whitespace.
Add corresponding tests.
Also fix the case of a valueless symbol added with the set method,
which would have resulted in attempting to use None as a string. This
only happened with the Python API, not with the command line API.
The test suite generator has been a Python script for a long time,
but tests/CMakeLists.txt still looked for Perl. The reference to
PYTHON_INTERP only worked due to a call to find_package(PythonInterp)
in the toplevel CMakeLists.txt, and cmake would not have printed the
expected error message if python was not available.
Run config.py with various options and store the results in files.
This script also supports the now-removed config.pl.
This is a framework to run non-regression tests on config.py: run it
with the old version, run it with the new version, and compare the
output.
This is deliberately not a functional test suite so that we don't need
to maintain a set of known outputs. When something changes in
config.py (or config.h), run the script before, run it after, and
check manually whether any differences in the output are acceptable.
git grep -Fl /config.pl | xargs sed -i -e 's!/config\.pl!/config.py!g'

* Change one comment in include/mbedtls/check_config.h.
* Change PERL to PYTHON in CMakeLists.txt.
MBEDTLS_PK_SIGNATURE_MAX_SIZE is tested in Mbed Crypto. Its effect on
Mbed TLS is also tested via the X.509 tests. The case of
MBEDTLS_MPI_MAX_SIZE < MBEDTLS_ECDSA_MAX_LEN, for which this component
was added as a regression test, is covered by config-suite-b.h which
is tested via test-ref-configs.pl.
In pk_sign_verify, if mbedtls_pk_sign() failed, sig_len was passed to
mbedtls_pk_verify_restartable() without having been initialized. This
worked only because in the only test case that expects signature to
fail, the verify implementation doesn't look at sig_len before failing
for the expected reason.
The value of sig_len if sign() fails is undefined, so set sig_len to
something sensible.
Add pk_write test cases where the ASN.1 INTEGER encoding of the
private value would not have the mandatory size for the OCTET STRING
that contains the value.
ec_256_long_prv.pem is a random secp256r1 private key, selected so
that the private value is >= 2^255, i.e. the top bit of the first byte
is set (which would cause the INTEGER encoding to have an extra
leading 0 byte).
ec_521_short_prv.pem is a random secp521r1 private key, selected so
that the private value is < 2^519, i.e. the first byte is 0 and the
top bit of the second byte is 0 (which would cause the INTEGER
encoding to have one less 0 byte at the start).
The corner case tests were designed for 32 and 64 bit limbs
independently and performed only on the target platform. On the other
platform they are not corner cases anymore, but we can still exercise
them.
The corner case tests were designed for 64 bit limbs and failed on 32
bit platforms because the numbers in the test ended up being stored in a
different number of limbs and the function (correctly) returnd an error
upon receiving them.
The signature of mbedtls_mpi_cmp_mpi_ct() meant to support using it in
place of mbedtls_mpi_cmp_mpi(). This meant full comparison functionality
and a signed result.
To make the function more universal and friendly to constant time
coding, we change the result type to unsigned. Theoretically, we could
encode the comparison result in an unsigned value, but it would be less
intuitive.
Therefore we won't be able to represent the result as unsigned anymore
and the functionality will be constrained to checking if the first
operand is less than the second. This is sufficient to support the
current use case and to check any relationship between MPIs.
The only drawback is that we need to call the function twice when
checking for equality, but this can be optimised later if an when it is
needed.
Enabling memory_buffer_alloc is slow and makes ASan ineffective. We
have a patch pending to remove it from the full config. In the
meantime, disable it explicitly.
None of the test cases in tests_suite_memory_buffer_alloc actually
need MBEDTLS_MEMORY_DEBUG. Some have additional checks when
MBEDTLS_MEMORY_DEBUG but all are useful even without it. So enable
them all and #ifdef out the parts that require DEBUG.
The test case "Memory buffer small buffer" emits a message
"FATAL: verification of first header failed". In this test case, it's
actually expected, but it looks weird to see this message from a
passing test. Add a comment that states this explicitly, and modify
the test description to indicate that the failure is expected, and
change the test function name to be more accurate.
Fix#309
The default entropy nonce length is either zero or nonzero depending
on the desired security strength and the entropy length.
The implementation calculates the actual entropy nonce length from the
actual entropy length, and therefore it doesn't need a constant that
indicates the default entropy nonce length. A portable application may
be interested in this constant, however. And our test code could
definitely use it.
Define a constant MBEDTLS_CTR_DRBG_ENTROPY_NONCE_LEN and use it in
test code. Previously, test_suite_ctr_drbg had knowledge about the
default entropy nonce length built in and test_suite_psa_crypto_init
failed. Now both use MBEDTLS_CTR_DRBG_ENTROPY_NONCE_LEN.
This change means that the test ctr_drbg_entropy_usage no longer
validates that the default entropy nonce length is sensible. So add a
new test that checks that the default entropy length and the default
entropy nonce length are sufficient to ensure the expected security
strength.
Change the default entropy nonce length to be nonzero in some cases.
Specifically, the default nonce length is now set in such a way that
the entropy input during the initial seeding always contains enough
entropy to achieve the maximum possible security strength per
NIST SP 800-90A given the key size and entropy length.
If MBEDTLS_CTR_DRBG_ENTROPY_LEN is kept to its default value,
mbedtls_ctr_drbg_seed() now grabs extra entropy for a nonce if
MBEDTLS_CTR_DRBG_USE_128_BIT_KEY is disabled and either
MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_FORCE_SHA256 is enabled or MBEDTLS_SHA512_C is
disabled. If MBEDTLS_CTR_DRBG_USE_128_BIT_KEY is enabled, or if
the entropy module uses SHA-512, then the default value of
MBEDTLS_CTR_DRBG_ENTROPY_LEN does not require a second call to the
entropy function to achieve the maximum security strength.
This choice of default nonce size guarantees NIST compliance with the
maximum security strength while keeping backward compatibility and
performance high: in configurations that do not require grabbing more
entropy, the code will not grab more entropy than before.
When running 'make test' with GNU make, if a test suite program
displays "PASSED", this was automatically counted as a pass. This
would in particular count as passing:
* A test suite with the substring "PASSED" in a test description.
* A test suite where all the test cases succeeded, but the final
cleanup failed, in particular if a sanitizer reported a memory leak.
Use the test executable's return status instead to determine whether
the test suite passed. It's always 0 on PASSED unless the executable's
cleanup code fails, and it's never 0 on any failure.
FixARMmbed/mbed-crypto#303
Some sanitizers default to displaying an error message and recovering.
This could result in a test being recorded as passing despite a
complaint from the sanitizer. Turn off sanitizer recovery to avoid
this risk.

config-symmetric-only.h enables MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_NV_SEED so it needs a
seedfile. Create it in test-ref-configs.pl so that the script works on
its own, even if it is not invoked by all.sh.
Add a reference configuration with most symmetric cryptographic
algorithms enabled, but without any asymmetric cryptography. This
checks that we don't have spurious unexpected dependencies on
asymmetric-only modules such as bignum.
Keep HAVE_ASM disabled because it's platform-specific.
Keep HAVEGE disabled because it's untested and not recommended.
Keep MEMORY_BUFFER_ALLOC out because it isn't related to cryptography

Keep THREADING disabled because it requires special build options.
mbedtls_ctr_drbg_seed() always set the entropy length to the default,
so a call to mbedtls_ctr_drbg_set_entropy_len() before seed() had no
effect. Change this to the more intuitive behavior that
set_entropy_len() sets the entropy length and seed() respects that and
only uses the default entropy length if there was no call to
set_entropy_len().
This removes the need for the test-only function
mbedtls_ctr_drbg_seed_entropy_len(). Just call
mbedtls_ctr_drbg_set_entropy_len() followed by
mbedtls_ctr_drbg_seed(), it works now.
Consolidate the invalid-handle tests from test_suite_psa_crypto and

mbedtls_asn1_get_int() and mbedtls_asn1_get_mpi() behave differently
on negative INTEGERs (0200). Don't change the library behavior for now
because this might break interoperability in some applications. Change
the test function to the library behavior.
Fix the test data with negative INTEGERs. These test cases were
previously not run (they were introduced but deliberately deactivated
in 27d806fab4). The test data was
actually wrong: ASN.1 uses two's complement, which has no negative 0,
and some encodings were wrong. Now the tests have correct data, and
the test code rectifies the expected data to match the library
behavior.
mbedtls_asn1_get_int() and mbedtls_asn1_get_mpi() behave differently

There were tests to ensure that each entropy source reaches its
threshold, but no test that covers the total amount of entropy. Add
test cases with a known set of entropy sources and make sure that we
always gather at least MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_BLOCK_SIZE bytes from a strong
source.
Always pass a context object to entropy_dummy_source. This lets us
write tests that register more than one source and keep track of how
many times each one is called.

Add invasive checks that peek at the stored persistent data after some
successful import, generation or destruction operations and after
reinitialization to ensure that the persistent data in storage has the
expected content.
Add a parameter to the p_validate_slot_number method to allow the
driver to modify the persistent data.
With the current structure of the core, the persistent data is already
updated. All it took was adding a way to modify it.
When registering a key in a secure element, go through the transaction
mechanism. This makes the code simpler, at the expense of a few extra
storage operations. Given that registering a key is typically very
rare over the lifetime of a device, this is an acceptable loss.
Drivers must now have a p_validate_slot_number method, otherwise
registering a key is not possible. This reduces the risk that due to a
mistake during the integration of a device, an application might claim
a slot in a way that is not supported by the driver.
Since components run in the main process, unsetting

If none of the inputs to a key derivation is a
PSA_KEY_DERIVATION_INPUT_SECRET passed with
psa_key_derivation_input_key(), forbid
psa_key_derivation_output_key(). It usually doesn't make sense to
derive a key object if the secret isn't itself a proper key.
After passing some inputs, try getting one byte of output, just to
check that this succeeds (for a valid sequence of inputs) or fails
with BAD_STATE (for an invalid sequence of inputs). Either output a
1-byte key or a 1-byte buffer depending on the test data.
The test data was expanded as follows:
* Output key type (or not a key): same as the SECRET input if success
is expected, otherwise NONE.
* Expected status: PSA_SUCCESS after valid inputs, BAD_STATE after any
invalid input.
Allow a direct input as the SECRET input step in a key derivation, in
addition to allowing DERIVE keys. This makes it easier for
applications to run a key derivation where the "secret" input is
obtained from somewhere else. This makes it possible for the "secret"
input to be empty (keys cannot be empty), which some protocols do (for
example the IV derivation in EAP-TLS).
Conversely, allow a RAW_DATA key as the INFO/LABEL/SALT/SEED input to a key
derivation, in addition to allowing direct inputs. This doesn't
improve security, but removes a step when a personalization parameter
is stored in the key store, and allows this personalization parameter
to remain opaque.
Add test cases that explore step/key-type-and-keyhood combinations.
This commit only makes derive_input more flexible so that the key
derivation API can be tested with different key types and raw data for
each input step. The behavior of the test cases remains the same.
Exercise the library functions with calloc returning NULL for a size
of 0. Make this a separate job with UBSan (and ASan) to detect
places where we try to dereference the result of calloc(0) or to do
things like
buf = calloc(size, 1);
if (buf == NULL && size != 0) return INSUFFICIENT_MEMORY;
memcpy(buf, source, size);
which has undefined behavior when buf is NULL at the memcpy call even
if size is 0.
This is needed because other test components jobs either use the system
malloc which returns non-NULL on Linux and FreeBSD, or the
memory_buffer_alloc malloc which returns NULL but does not give as
useful feedback with ASan (because the whole heap is a single C
object).
The uint32 is given as a bigendian stream, in the tests, however,
the char buffer that collected the stream read it as is,
without converting it. Add a temporary buffer, to call `greentea_getc()`
8 times, and then put it in the correct endianity for input to `unhexify()`.
Reduce the stack usage of the `test_suite_pkcs1_v21` by reducing the
size of the buffers used in the tests, to a reasonable big enough size,
and change the size sent to the API to sizeof output.
Reduce the stack usage of the `test_suite_rsa` by reducing the
size of the buffers used in the tests, to a reasonable big enough size,
and change the data size to decrypt in the data file.

Make check-test-cases.py pass.
Prior to this commit, there were many repeated test descriptions, but
none with the same test data and dependencies and comments, as checked
with the following command:
for x in tests/suites/*.data; do perl -00 -ne 'warn "$ARGV: $. = $seen{$_}\n" if $seen{$_}; $seen{$_}=$.' $x; done
Wherever a test suite contains multiple test cases with the exact same
description, add " [#1]", " [#2]", etc. to make the descriptions
unique. We don't currently use this particular arrangement of
punctuation, so all occurrences of " [#" were added by this script.

A test case for 32+0 was present three times, evidently overeager
copy-paste. Replace the duplicates by test cases that read more than
32 bytes, which exercises HKDF a little more (32 bytes is significant
because HKDF-SHA-256 produces output in blocks of 32 bytes).
I obtained the test data by running our implementation, because we're
confident in our implementation now thanks to other test cases: this
data is useful as a non-regression test.
There should have been a good-saltlen test case and a bad-saltlen test
case for both sizes 522 and 528, but the 522-bad-saltlen test case was
missing and the 528-good-saltlen test case was repeated. Fix this.
Don't use semicolons in test case descriptions. The test outcome file
is a semicolon-separated CSV file without quotes to keep things
simple, so fields in that file may not contain semicolons.
Set MBEDTLS_TEST_PLATFORM and MBEDTLS_TEST_CONFIGURATION to meaningful
values in all.sh. These environment variables are used when
writing an outcome file, which happens if MBEDTLS_TEST_OUTCOME_FILE is
also set.
When running one of the try-multiple-configuration scripts, set
MBEDTLS_TEST_CONFIGURATION to a value that uniquely describes the
configuration.
Don't use semicolons in test case descriptions. The test outcome file
is a semicolon-separated CSV file without quotes to keep things
simple, so fields in that file may not contain semicolons.
If the environment variable MBEDTLS_TEST_OUTCOME_FILE is set, then for
each test case, write a line to the file with the given name, of the
form
PLATFORM;CONFIGURATION;ssl-opt;TEST CASE DESCRIPTION;PASS/FAIL/SKIP;CAUSE
PLATFORM and CONFIGURATION come from the environment variables
MBEDTLS_TEST_PLATFORM and MBEDTLS_TEST_CONFIGURATION. If these
variables are unset, the script uses some easily-calculated values.
If the environment variable MBEDTLS_TEST_OUTCOME_FILE is set, then for
each test case, write a line to the file with the given name, of the
form
PLATFORM;CONFIGURATION;TEST SUITE;TEST CASE DESCRIPTION;PASS/FAIL/SKIP;CAUSE
PLATFORM and CONFIGURATION come from the environment variables
MBEDTLS_TEST_PLATFORM and MBEDTLS_TEST_CONFIGURATION.
Errors while writing the test outcome file are not considered fatal,
and are not reported except for an error initially opening the file.
This is in line with other write errors that are not checked.
This commit adds multiple test cases to the X.509 CRT parsing test suite
exercising the stack's behaviour when facing CertificatePolicy extensions
that are malformed for a variety of reasons. It follows the same scheme
as in other negative parsing tests: For each ASN.1 component, have test
cases for (a) unexpected tag, (b) missing length, (c) invalid length
encoding, (d) length out of bounds.
This commit modifies the test
X509 CRT ASN1 (TBSCertificate v3, inv CertificatePolicies, data missing)
which exercises the behaviour of the X.509 CRT parser when facing a
CertificatePolicy extension with empty data field.
The following adaptations are made:
- The subject ID and issuer ID are modified to have length 0.
The previous values `aa` and `bb` are OK, but a generic ASN.1
parser will try to interpret them as ASN.1 tags and fail. For
maintainability, it's therefore better to use something that
can be parsed as ASN.1, and an empty ID is the easiest solution
here.
- The TBS part of the certificate wasn't followed by signature
algorithm and signature fields, which makes the test incompatible
with future changes swapping to breadth-first parsing of
certificates.
This commit moves the X.509 negative parsing tests for the
CertificatePolicy extension to the place where negative
testing of other extensions happens.
Judging from its name, the purpose of the test
TBSCertificate v3, ext CertificatePolicies tag, bool len missing
in test_suite_x509parse.data is to exercise the X.509 parsing stack's
behaviour when parsing a CertificatePolicy extension which lacks the
length field of the boolean 'Criticality' value.
However, the test fails at an earlier stage due to a mismatch of inner
and outer length of the explicit ASN.1 extensions structure.
Since we already have tests exercising
- mismatch of inner and outer length in the extensions structure, namely
'X509 CRT ASN1 (TBS, inv v3Ext, inner tag invalid)'
- missing length of the 'Criticality' field in an extension, namely
'X509 CRT ASN1 (TBS, inv v3Ext, critical length missing)'
and since for both tests there's no relevance to the use of the
policy extension OID, the test
'TBSCertificate v3, ext CertificatePolicies tag, bool len missing'
can be dropped.
The signature must have exactly the same length as the key, it can't
be longer. Fix#258
If the signature doesn't have the correct size, that's an invalid
signature, not a problem with an output buffer size. Fix the error code.
Add test cases.

Add tests for derivation.

There is no corresponding test for import because import determines
the key size from the key data, which is always a whole number of bytes.

Tweak test data for one test case to not rely on mbedtls_asn1_get_int
lacking support for leading zeros. Instead, use a number that is
actually out of range for int.
Tweak test data for one test case to not rely on
mbedtls_asn1_get_bitstring_null rejecting bitstrings shorter than two
octets. Instead, try bit strings that are genuinely invalid, or have a

Add a test case with a correct empty signature. This is commented out
because asn1parse currently does not support this. Uncomment it when
asn1parse is updated to support this.
The new macro ASSERT_ALLOC_WEAK does not fail the test case if the
memory allocation fails. This is useful for tests that allocate a
large amount of memory, but that aren't useful on platforms where
allocating such a large amount is not possible.
Ideally this macro should mark the test as skipped. We don't yet have
a facility for that but we're working on it. Once we have a skip
functionality, this macro should be changed to use it.
Use the test-many-sizes framework for string writes as
well (previously, it was only used for booleans and integers). This
way, more edge cases are tested with less test code.
This commit removes buffer overwrite checks. Instead of these checks,
run the test suite under a memory sanitizer (which we do in our CI).
Omit negative integers and MPIs that would result in values that look
like negative INTEGERs, since the library doesn't respect the
specifications there, but fixing it has a serious risk of breaking
interoperability when ASN.1 is used in X.509 and other
cryptography-related applications.
Add self-contained ASN.1 parsing tests, so that ASN.1 parsing is not
solely tested through X.509 and TLS.
The tests cover every function and almost complete line coverage in
asn1parse.c.
A few test cases containing negative and edge case INTEGER values are
deliberately deactivated because the historical library behavior is at
odds with official specifications, but changing the behavior might
break interoperability.
Other than that, these tests revealed a couple of minor bugs which
will be fixed in subsequent commits.
Add infrastructure to run unit tests and collect the return values for

This leak wasn't discovered by the CI because the only test in
all.sh exercising the respective path enabled the custom memory
buffer allocator implementations of calloc() and free(), hence
bypassing ASan.
With the removal of MBEDTLS_MEMORY_BUFFER_ALLOC_C from the
full config, there are no tests for it remaining in all.sh.
This commit adds a build as well as runs of `make test` and
`ssl-opt.sh` with MBEDTLS_MEMORY_BUFFER_ALLOC_C enabled to all.sh.
Previously, numerous all.sh tests manually disabled the buffer allocator
or memory backtracting after setting a full config as the starting point.
With the removal of MBEDTLS_MEMORY_BACKTRACE and MBEDTLS_MEMORY_BUFFER_ALLOC_C
from full configs, this is no longer necessary.

In preparation of deprecating the old and less secure deterministic
ECDSA signature function we need to remove it from the test. At the
same time, the new function needs to be tested. Modifying the tests
to use the new function achieves both of these goals.

If we try to delete a non-existant file using del on Windows, as
can happen when running make clean, del will throw an error. Make
the Makefiles more robust by only deleting files if they exist.
This commit splits each test in ssl-opt.sh related to context serialization
in three tests, exercising the use of CCM, GCM and ChaChaPoly separately.
The reason is that the choice of primitive affects the presence and size
of an explicit IV, and we should test that space for those IVs is correctly
restored during context deserialization; in fact, this was not the case
previously, as fixed in the last commit, and was not caught by the tests
because only ChaChaPoly was tested.

This commit introduces a new SSL error code
`MBEDTLS_ERR_SSL_VERSION_MISMATCH`
which can be used to indicate operation failure due to a
mismatch of version or configuration.
It is put to use in the implementation of `mbedtls_ssl_session_load()`
to signal the attempt to de-serialize a session which has been serialized
in a build of Mbed TLS using a different version or configuration.
This commit improves the test exercising the behaviour of
session deserialization when facing an unexpected version
or config, by testing ver/cfg corruption at any bit in the
ver/cfg header of the serialized data; previously, it had
only tested the first bit of each byte.
The size of the ticket used in this test dropped from 192 to 143 bytes, so
move all sizes used in this test down 50 bytes. Also, we now need to adapt the
server response size as the default size would otherwise collide with the new
mtu value.
The chosen fix matches what's currently done in the baremetal branch - except
the `#ifdef` have been adapted because now in baremetal the digest is not kept
if renegotiation is disabled.
We have explicit recommendations to use US spelling for technical writing, so
let's apply this to code as well for uniformity. (My fingers tend to prefer UK
spelling, so this needs to be fixed in many places.)
sed -i 's/\([Ss]eriali\)s/\1z/g' **/*.[ch] **/*.function **/*.data ChangeLog
This test works regardless of the serialisation format and embedded pointers
in it, contrary to the load-save test, though it requires more maintenance of
the test code (sync the member list with the struct definition).
This uncovered a bug that led to a double-free (in practice, in general could
be free() on any invalid value): initially the session structure is loaded
with `memcpy()` which copies the previous values of pointers peer_cert and
ticket to heap-allocated buffers (or any other value if the input is
attacker-controlled). Now if we exit before we got a chance to replace those
invalid values with valid ones (for example because the input buffer is too
small, or because the second malloc() failed), then the next call to
session_free() is going to call free() on invalid pointers.
This bug is fixed in this commit by always setting the pointers to NULL right
after they've been read from the serialised state, so that the invalid values
can never be used.
(An alternative would be to NULL-ify them when writing, which was rejected
mostly because we need to do it when reading anyway (as the consequences of
free(invalid) are too severe to take any risk), so doing it when writing as
well is redundant and a waste of code size.)
Also, while thinking about what happens in case of errors, it became apparent
to me that it was bad practice to leave the session structure in an
half-initialised state and rely on the caller to call session_free(), so this
commit also ensures we always clear the structure when loading failed.
This test appeared to be passing for the wrong reason, it's actually not
appropriate for the current implementation. The serialised data contains
values of pointers to heap-allocated buffers. There is no reason these should
be identical after a load-save pair. They just happened to be identical when I
first ran the test due to the place of session_free() in the test code and the
fact that the libc's malloc() reused the same buffers. The test no longer
passes if other malloc() implementations are used (for example, when compiling
with asan which avoids re-using the buffer, probably for better error
detection).
So, disable this test for now (we can re-enable it when we changed how
sessions are serialised, which will be done in a future PR, hence the name of
the dummy macro in depends_on). In the next commit we're going to add a test
that save-load is the identity instead - which will be more work in testing as
it will require checking each field manually, but at least is reliable.
This initial test ensures that a load-save function is the identity. It is so
far incomplete in that it only tests sessions without tickets or certificate.
This will be improved in the next commits.
While 'session hash' is currently unique, so suitable to prove that the
intended code path has been taken, it's a generic enough phrase that in the
future we might add other debug messages containing it in completely unrelated
code paths. In order to future-proof the accuracy of the test, let's use a
more specific string.

It happens regularly in test runs that the server example application
shuts down a connection, goes into waiting mode for a new connection,
and then receives the encrypted ClosureAlert from the client. The only
reason why this does currently not trigger the 'record from another epoch'
message is that we handle ClientHello parsing outside of the main record
stack because we want to be able to detect SSLv2 ClientHellos. However,
this is likely to go away, and once it happens, we'll see the log message.
Further, when record checking is used, every record, including the mentioned
closure alert, is passed to the record checking API before being passed to
the rest of the stack, which leads to the log message being printed.
In summary, grepping for 'record from another epoch' is a fragile way
of checking whether a reordered message has arrived. A more reliable
way is to grep for 'Buffer record from epoch' which is printed when
a record from a future epoch is actually buffered, and 'ssl_buffer_message'
which is the function buffering a future handshake message.
Drivers that allow destroying a key must have a destroy method. This
test bug was previously not caught because of an implementation bug
that lost the error triggered by the missing destroy method.
compat.sh used to skip OpenSSL altogether for DTLS 1.2, because older
versions of OpenSSL didn't support it. But these days it is supported.
We don't want to use DTLS 1.2 with OpenSSL unconditionally, because we
still use legacy versions of OpenSSL to test with legacy ciphers. So
check whether the version we're using supports it.
Add a flow where the key is imported or fake-generated in the secure

verification with the public key.
Factor common code of ram_import and ram_fake_generate into a common

Reject key types that aren't supported by this test code.
Report the bit size correctly for EC key pairs.
The methods to import and generate a key in a secure element drivers
were written for an earlier version of the application-side interface.
Now that there is a psa_key_attributes_t structure that combines all
key metadata including its lifetime (location), type, size, policy and
extra type-specific data (domain parameters), pass that to drivers
instead of separate arguments for each piece of metadata. This makes
the interface less cluttered.
Update parameter names and descriptions to follow general conventions.
Document the public-key output on key generation more precisely.
Explain that it is optional in a driver, and when a driver would
implement it. Declare that it is optional in the core, too (which
means that a crypto core might not support drivers for secure elements
that do need this feature).
Update the implementation and the tests accordingly.
Register an existing key in a secure element.
Minimal implementation that doesn't call any driver method and just
lets the application declare whatever it wants.
Pass the key creation method (import/generate/derive/copy) to the
driver methods to allocate or validate a slot number. This allows
drivers to enforce policies such as "this key slot can only be used
for keys generated inside the secure element".
Without any -O option, the default is -O0, and then the assembly code
is not used, so this would not be a non-regression test for the
assembly code that doesn't build.
Allow the application to choose the slot number in a secure element,
rather than always letting the driver choose.
With this commit, any application may request any slot. In an
implementation with isolation, it's up to the service to filter key
creation requests and apply policies to limit which applications can
request which slot.
Test the behavior of the getter/setter functions.
Test that psa_get_key_slot_number() reports a slot number for a key in
a secure element, and doesn't report a slot number for a key that is
not in a secure element.
Test that psa_get_key_slot_number() reports the correct slot number
for a key in a secure element.
Add tests that call psa_generate_random() (possibly via
psa_generate_key()) with a size that's larger than
MBEDTLS_CTR_DRBG_MAX_REQUEST. This causes psa_generate_random() to
fail because it calls mbedtls_ctr_drbg_random() without taking the
maximum request size of CTR_DRBG into account.

These files should not exist in Mbed Crypto. Keep them deleted.
* tests/data_files/test-ca.server1.db: new file in Mbed TLS, don't create
it in Mbed Crypto.
* tests/data_files/rsa_pkcs1_1024_clear.pem: do create this file in

* tests/data_files/Makefile: don't take any of the changes in sections
that have been removed in Crypto. Do take in the certificate
expiration date updates and the extra .crt.der rules (even if Crypto
doesn't actually use those certificates: removing them would be out
of scope of the present merge).
* tests/suites/helpers.function: consecutive additions, take
both (order indifferent).
In tests of mbedtls_cipher_xxx and mbedtls_pk_xxx with
MBEDTLS_USE_PSA_CRYPTO enabled, initialize and deinitialize the PSA
subsystem in every function. Before, the tests were only passing
because the first function to be called happened to call
psa_crypto_init() but not mbedtls_psa_crypto_free(). In some
configurations (not tested on CI), psa_crypto_init() was not called so
the tests using PSA failed.
Call PSA_DONE() at the end of each test function. This ensures that no
resources are leaked in the form of PSA crypto slot contents.
Incidentally, this also fixes a build error due to
test_helper_psa_done() being unused in test_suite_pk: the fact that it
wasn't used betrayed the missing calls to PSA_DONE().
Conflict resolution:
* `scripts/config.pl`:
Take the exclusion of `MBEDTLS_PSA_CRYPTO_SE_C` from the API branch.
Take the removal of `MBEDTLS_PSA_CRYPTO_STORAGE_ITS_C` (obsolete) from
the development branch.
* `tests/scripts/all.sh`:
Multiple instances of factoring a sequence of `config.pl` calls into
a mere `config.pl baremetal` in the development branch, and a change in
the composition of `baremetal` in the API branch. In each case, take the
version from development.
* `tests/suites/test_suite_psa_crypto_slot_management.function`:
A function became non-static in development and disappeared in the API
branch. Keep the version from the API branch. Functions need to be
non-static if they're defined but unused in some configurations,
which is not the case for any function in this file at the moment.
* `tests/suites/test_suite_psa_crypto.function`:
Consecutive changes in the two branches, reconciled.
Resolve conflicts by performing the following operations:
- Reject changes related to building a crypto submodule, since Mbed
Crypto is the crypto submodule.
- Reject X.509, NET, and SSL changes.
- Reject changes to README, as Mbed Crypto is a different project from
Mbed TLS, with a different README.
- Avoid adding mention of ssl-opt.sh in a comment near some modified
code in include/CMakeLists.txt (around where ENABLE_TESTING as added).
- Align config.pl in Mbed TLS with config.pl in Mbed Crypto where PSA
options are concerned, to make future merging easier. There is no
reason for the two to be different in this regard, now that Mbed TLS
always depends on Mbed Crypto. Remaining differences are only the
PSA_CRYPTO_KEY_FILE_ID_ENCODES_OWNER option and the absence of X.509,
NET, and SSL related options in Mbed Crypto's config.pl.
- Align config.h in Mbed Crypto with Mbed TLS's copy, with a few notable
exceptions:
- Leave CMAC on by default.
- Leave storage on by default (including ITS emulation).
- Avoid documenting the PSA Crypto API as is in beta stage in
documentation for MBEDTLS_PSA_CRYPTO_C.
The only remaining differences are a lack of X.509, NET, and SSL
options in Mbed Crypto's config.h, as well as an additional
Mbed-Crypto-specific PSA_CRYPTO_KEY_FILE_ID_ENCODES_OWNER option.
Documentation for the check params feature and related macros is also
updated to match Mbed TLS's description.
- Reject tests/data_files/Makefile changes to generate DER versions of
CRTs and keys, as none of those are used by Mbed Crypto tests.
- Add the "no PEM and no filesystem" test to all.sh, without ssl-opt.sh
run, as Mbed Crypto doesn't have ssl-opt.sh. Also remove use of PSA
Crypto storage and ITS emulation, since those depend on filesystem
support.
- Reject addition of test when no ciphersuites have MAC to all.sh, as
the option being tested, MBEDTLS_SSL_SOME_MODES_USE_MAC, is not
present in Mbed Crypto.
- Use baremetal config in all.sh, as Mbed Crypto's baremetal
configuration does exclude the net module (as it doesn't exist in Mbed
Crypto)
- Reject cmake_subproject_build changes, continuing to link only
libmbedcrypto.
- Reject changes to visualc and associated templates. Mbed Crypto
doesn't need additional logic to handle submodule-sourced headers.
- Avoid adding fuzzers from Mbed TLS. The only relevant fuzzers are the
privkey and pubkey fuzzers, but non-trivial work would be required to
integrate those into Mbed Crypto (more than is comfortable in a merge
commit).
- Reject addition of Docker wrappers for compat.sh and ssl-opt.sh, as
those are not present in Mbed Crypto.
- Remove calls to SSL-related scripts from basic-in-docker.sh
Fix test errors by performing the following:
- Avoid using a link that Doxygen can't seem to resolve in Mbed Crypto,
but can resolve in Mbed TLS. In documentation for
MBEDTLS_CHECK_PARAMS, don't attempt to link to MBEDTLS_PARAM_FAILED.

65528 bits is more than any reasonable key until we start supporting
post-quantum cryptography.
This limit is chosen to allow bit-sizes to be stored in 16 bits, with
65535 left to indicate an invalid value. It's a whole number of bytes,
which facilitates some calculations, in particular allowing a key of
exactly PSA_CRYPTO_MAX_STORAGE_SIZE to be created but not one bit
more.
As a resource usage limit, this is arguably too large, but that's out
of scope of the current commit.
Test that key import, generation and derivation reject overly large
sizes.
Move the "core attributes" to a substructure of psa_key_attribute_t.
The motivation is to be able to use the new structure
psa_core_key_attributes_t internally.
Add a few test cases to ensure that alg=0 in policy does not allow
using the key for an operation.
Add a test case to ensure that ANY_HASH does not have a wildcard
meaning for HMAC.
Add a parameter to the key import method of a secure element driver to
make it report the key size in bits. This is necessary (otherwise the
core has no idea what the bit-size is), and making import report it is
easier than adding a separate method (for other key creation methods,
this information is an input, not an output).
Run all functions that take a key handle as input with a key that is
in a secure element. All calls are expected to error out one way or
another (not permitted by policy, invalid key type, method not
implemented in the secure element, ...). The goal of this test is to
ensure that nothing bad happens (e.g. invalid pointer dereference).
Run with various key types and algorithms to get good coverage.
The following provides more information on this PR:
- PSA stands for Platform Security Architecture.
- Add support for use of psa_trusted_storage_api internal_trusted_storage.h v1.0.0
as the interface to the psa_trusted_storage_linux backend (i.e. for persistent
storage when MBEDTLS_PSA_ITS_FILE_C is not defined). This requires changes
to psa_crypto_its.h and psa_crypto_storage.c to migrate to the new API.
Stored keys must contain lifetime information. The lifetime used to be
implied by the location of the key, back when applications supplied
the lifetime value when opening the key. Now that all keys' metadata
are stored in a central location, this location needs to store the
lifetime explicitly.
Pass information via a key attribute structure rather than as separate
parameters to psa_crypto_storage functions. This makes it easier to
maintain the code when the metadata of a key evolves.
This has negligible impact on code size (+4B with "gcc -Os" on x86_64).
This test case was only executed if the SHA-512 module was enabled and
MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_FORCE_SHA256 was not enabled, so "config.pl full"
didn't have a chance to reach it even if that enabled
MBEDTLS_PLATFORM_NV_SEED_ALT.
Now all it takes to enable this test is MBEDTLS_PLATFORM_NV_SEED_ALT
and its requirements, and the near-ubiquitous MD module.
Call mbedtls_entropy_free on test failure.
Restore the previous NV seed functions which the call to
mbedtls_platform_set_nv_seed() changed. This didn't break anything,
but only because the NV seed functions used for these tests happened
to work for the tests that got executed later in the .data file.
memset has undefined behavior when either pointer can be NULL, which
is the case when it's the result of malloc/calloc with a size of 0.
The memset calls here are useless anyway since they come immediately
after calloc.
Make some functions non-static, to avoid Wunused function warnings. Make
a function scoped variable block scoped instead, to avoid Wunused
variable warnings in some configurations.

Secure element support has its own source file, and in addition
requires many hooks in other files. This is a nontrivial amount of
code, so make it optional (but default on).
When building Mbed Crypto when including it via CMake's
`add_subdirectory()`, the tests are also built by default. This means
all headers the tests need must be public, in order for the build of the
tests to have access to the headers.
Remove use of CMAKE_SOURCE_DIR in case mbedtls is built from within
another CMake project. Define MBEDTLS_DIR to ${CMAKE_CURRENT_SOURCE_DIR}
in the main CMakeLists.txt file and refer to that when defining target
include paths to enable mbedtls to be built as a sub project.

This change affects the psa_key_derivation_s structure. With the buffer
removed from the union, it is empty if MBEDTLS_MD_C is not defined.
We can avoid undefined behaviour by adding a new dummy field that is
always present or make the whole union conditional on MBEDTLS_MD_C.
In this latter case the initialiser macro has to depend on MBEDTLS_MD_C
as well. Furthermore the first structure would be either
psa_hkdf_key_derivation_t or psa_tls12_prf_key_derivation_t both of
which are very deep and would make the initialisation macro difficult
to maintain, therefore we go with the first option.
Part of the tests are adapted in this commit, another part is already
covered by the derive_input tests and some of them are not applicable to
the new API (the new API does not request capacity at the setup stage).
The test coverage temporarily drops with this commit, the two test cases
conserning capacity will be re-added in a later commit.
In the 1.0 API some functionality has been split from the
psa_key_derivation_setup() function and is now done with the
psa_key_derivation_input_*() functions. The new tests maintain the
existing test coverage of this functionality.
Add the compile time option PSA_PRE_1_0_KEY_DERIVATION. If this is not
turned on, then the function `psa_key_derivation()` is removed.
Most of the tests regarding key derivation haven't been adapted to the
new API yet and some of them have only been adapted partially. When this
new option is turned off, the tests using the old API and test cases
using the old API of partially adapted tests are skipped.
The sole purpose of this option is to make the transition to the new API
smoother. Once the transition is complete it can and should be removed
along with the old API and its implementation.
Call `greentea_getc()` 8 times, and then `unhexify` once, instead of
calling `receive_byte()`, which inside calls `greentea_getc()` twice,
for every hex digit.
Since Python3 handles encoding differently than Python2,
a change in the way the data is encoded and sent to the target is needed.
1. Change the test data to be sent as hex string
2. Convert the characters to binary bytes.
This is done because the mbed tools translate the encoding differently

Mbed OS tests, the source files are copied to a directory under TESTS.
The required header files need to be present in this directory.
Create a new header file psa_helpers.h and put the one helper macro
that isn't specific to PSA crypto there. Use this header file in the
ITS test suite.
This file isn't like the other .function files: it isn't concatenated
by a separate preprocessing script, but included via C preprocessing.
Rename this file to .h. This isn't a normal C header, because it
defines auxiliary functions. But the functions aren't big and we only
have one compilation unit per executable, so this is good enough for
what we're doing.

With the change to the full config, there were no longer any tests
that exercise invalid-parameter behavior. The test suite exercises
invalid-parameter behavior by calling TEST_INVALID_PARAM and friends,
relying on the test suite's mbedtls_check_param function. This
function is only enabled if MBEDTLS_CHECK_PARAMS is defined but not
MBEDTLS_CHECK_PARAMS_ASSERT.
Add a component to all.sh that enables MBEDTLS_CHECK_PARAMS but
disables MBEDTLS_CHECK_PARAMS_ASSERT and doesn't define
MBEDTLS_PARAM_FAILED. This way, the xxx_invalid_param() tests do run.
Since sample programs don't provide a mbedtls_check_param function,
this component doesn't build the sample programs.

Increase the SO versions of libmbedx509 and libmbedtls due to the
addition of fields in publicly visible (non-opaque) structs:
- mbedtls_ssl_config
- mbedtls_ssl_context
- mbedtls_x509_crt
Due to the way the current PK API works, it may have not been clear
for the library clients, how big output buffers they should pass
to the signing functions. Depending on the key type they depend on
MPI or EC specific compile-time constants.
Inside the library, there were places, where it was assumed that
the MPI size will always be enough, even for ECDSA signatures.
However, for very small sizes of the MBEDTLS_MPI_MAX_SIZE and
sufficiently large key, the EC signature could exceed the MPI size
and cause a stack overflow.
This test establishes both conditions -- small MPI size and the use
of a long ECDSA key -- and attempts to sign an arbitrary file.
This can cause a stack overvlow if the signature buffers are not
big enough, therefore the test is performed for an ASan build.
For unit tests and sample programs, CFLAGS=-m32 is enough to get a
32-bit build, because these programs are all compiled directly
from *.c to the executable in one shot. But with makefile rules that
first build object files and then link them, LDFLAGS=-m32 is also
needed.
Remove the "Decrypt empty buffer" test, as ChaCha20 is a stream cipher
and 0 bytes encrypted is identical to a 0 length buffer. The "ChaCha20

test that decryption of an empty buffer would work with
MBEDTLS_CIPHER_AES_128_CBC.
Make the cipher used with the dec_empty_buf() test configurable, so that
Chacha20 and Chacha20-Poly1305 empty buffer tests can use ciphers other

Replace all calls to mbedtls_psa_crypto_free in tests by PSA_DONE.
This is correct for most tests, because most tests close open keys. A
few tests now fail; these tests need to be reviewed and switched back
to mbedtls_psa_crypto_free if they genuinely expected to end with some
slots still in use.
The new macro PSA_DONE calls mbedtls_psa_crypto_free, but before that,
it checks that no key slots are in use. The goal is to allow tests to
verify that functions like psa_close_key properly mark slots as
unused, and more generally to detect key slot leaks. We call
mbedtls_psa_crypto_free at the end of each test case, which could mask
a bug whereby slots are not freed when they should be, but their
content is correctly reclaimed by mbedtls_psa_crypto_free.
Create a specific file for helper functions that are related to the
PSA API. The reason for a separate file is so that it can include
<psa/crypto.h>, without forcing this header inclusion into every test
suite. In this commit, psa_helpers.function doesn't need psa/crypto.h
yet, but this will be the case in a subsequent commit.
Move PSA_ASSERT to psa_helpers.function, since that's the sort of
things it's for.
Include "psa_helpers.function" from the PSA crypto tests.
In the ITS test, don't include "psa_helpers". The ITS tests are
meant to stand alone from the rest of the library.

Lengths below 128 Bytes must be encoded as a single 'XX' byte in DER,
but two tests in the X.509 CRT parsing suite used the BER but non-DER
encoding '81 XX' (the first byte 10000001 indicating that the length
is to follow (high bit) and has length 1 byte (low bit)).
Previously, a test exercising the X.509 CRT parser's behaviour
on unexpected tags would use a '00' byte in place of the tag
for the expected structure. This makes reviewing the examples
harder because the binary data isn't valid DER-encoded ASN.1.
This commit uses the ASN.1 NULL TLV '05 00' to test invalid
tags, and adapts surrounding structures' length values accordingly.
This eases reviewing because now the ASN.1 structures are still
well-formed at the place where the mismatch occurs.
Some functions within the X.509 module return an ASN.1 low level
error code where instead this error code should be wrapped by a
high-level X.509 error code as in the bulk of the module.
Specifically, the following functions are affected:
- mbedtls_x509_get_ext()
- x509_get_version()
- x509_get_uid()
This commit modifies these functions to always return an
X.509 high level error code.
Care has to be taken when adapting `mbetls_x509_get_ext()`:
Currently, the callers `mbedtls_x509_crt_ext()` treat the
return code `MBEDTLS_ERR_ASN1_UNEXPECTED_TAG` specially to
gracefully detect and continue if the extension structure is not
present. Wrapping the ASN.1 error with
`MBEDTLS_ERR_X509_INVALID_EXTENSIONS` and adapting the check
accordingly would mean that an unexpected tag somewhere
down the extension parsing would be ignored by the caller.
The way out of this is the following: Luckily, the extension
structure is always the last field in the surrounding structure,
so if there is some data remaining, it must be an Extension
structure, so we don't need to deal with a tag mismatch gracefully
in the first place.
We may therefore wrap the return code from the initial call to
`mbedtls_asn1_get_tag()` in `mbedtls_x509_get_ext()` by
`MBEDTLS_ERR_X509_INVALID_EXTENSIONS` and simply remove
the special treatment of `MBEDTLS_ERR_ASN1_UNEXPECTED_TAG`
in the callers `x509_crl_get_ext()` and `x509_crt_get_ext()`.
This renders `mbedtls_x509_get_ext()` unsuitable if it ever
happened that an Extension structure is optional and does not
occur at the end of its surrounding structure, but for CRTs
and CRLs, it's fine.
The following tests need to be adapted:
- "TBSCertificate v3, issuerID wrong tag"
The issuerID is optional, so if we look for its presence
but find a different tag, we silently continue and try
parsing the subjectID, and then the extensions. The tag '00'
used in this test doesn't match either of these, and the
previous code would hence return LENGTH_MISMATCH after
unsucessfully trying issuerID, subjectID and Extensions.
With the new code, any data remaining after issuerID and
subjectID _must_ be Extension data, so we fail with
UNEXPECTED_TAG when trying to parse the Extension data.
- "TBSCertificate v3, UIDs, invalid length"
The test hardcodes the expectation of
MBEDTLS_ERR_ASN1_INVALID_LENGTH, which needs to be
wrapped in MBEDTLS_ERR_X509_INVALID_FORMAT now.
Fixes#2431.
When parsing a substructure of an ASN.1 structure, no field within
the substructure must exceed the bounds of the substructure.
Concretely, the `end` pointer passed to the ASN.1 parsing routines
must be updated to point to the end of the substructure while parsing
the latter.
This was previously not the case for the routines
- x509_get_attr_type_and_value(),
- mbedtls_x509_get_crt_ext(),
- mbedtls_x509_get_crl_ext().
These functions kept using the end of the parent structure as the
`end` pointer and would hence allow substructure fields to cross
the substructure boundary. This could lead to successful parsing
of ill-formed X.509 CRTs.
This commit fixes this.
Care has to be taken when adapting `mbedtls_x509_get_crt_ext()`
and `mbedtls_x509_get_crl_ext()`, as the underlying function
`mbedtls_x509_get_ext()` returns `0` if no extensions are present
but doesn't set the variable which holds the bounds of the Extensions
structure in case the latter is present. This commit addresses
this by returning early from `mbedtls_x509_get_crt_ext()` and
`mbedtls_x509_get_crl_ext()` if parsing has reached the end of
the input buffer.
The following X.509 parsing tests need to be adapted:
- "TBSCertificate, issuer two inner set datas"
This test exercises the X.509 CRT parser with a Subject name
which has two empty `AttributeTypeAndValue` structures.
This is supposed to fail with `MBEDTLS_ERR_ASN1_OUT_OF_DATA`
because the parser should attempt to parse the first structure
and fail because of a lack of data. Previously, it failed to
obey the (0-length) bounds of the first AttributeTypeAndValue
structure and would try to interpret the beginning of the second
AttributeTypeAndValue structure as the first field of the first
AttributeTypeAndValue structure, returning an UNEXPECTED_TAG error.
- "TBSCertificate, issuer, no full following string"
This test exercises the parser's behaviour on an AttributeTypeAndValue
structure which contains more data than expected; it should therefore
fail with MBEDTLS_ERR_ASN1_LENGTH_MISMATCH. Because of the missing bounds
check, it previously failed with UNEXPECTED_TAG because it interpreted
the remaining byte in the first AttributeTypeAndValue structure as the
first byte in the second AttributeTypeAndValue structure.
- "SubjectAltName repeated"
This test should exercise two SubjectAltNames extensions in succession,
but a wrong length values makes the second SubjectAltNames extension appear
outside of the Extensions structure. With the new bounds in place, this
therefore fails with a LENGTH_MISMATCH error. This commit adapts the test
data to put the 2nd SubjectAltNames extension inside the Extensions
structure, too.
This commit temporarily comments the copying of the negotiated CIDs
into the established ::mbedtls_ssl_transform in mbedtls_ssl_derive_keys()
until the CID feature has been fully implemented.
While mbedtls_ssl_decrypt_buf() and mbedtls_ssl_encrypt_buf() do
support CID-based record protection by now and can be unit tested,
the following two changes in the rest of the stack are still missing
before CID-based record protection can be integrated:
- Parsing of CIDs in incoming records.
- Allowing the new CID record content type for incoming records.
- Dealing with a change of record content type during record
decryption.
Further, since mbedtls_ssl_get_peer_cid() judges the use of CIDs by
the CID fields in the currently transforms, this change also requires
temporarily disabling some grepping for ssl_client2 / ssl_server2
debug output in ssl-opt.sh.
Part of the record encryption/decryption tests is to gradually
increase the space available at the front and/or at the back of
a record and observe when encryption starts to succeed. If exactly
one of the two parameters is varied at a time, the expectation is
that encryption will continue to succeed once it has started
succeeding (that's not true if both pre- and post-space are varied
at the same time).
Moreover, previously the test would take turns when choosing which
transform should be used for encryption, and which for decryption.
With the introduction of the CID feaature, this switching of transforms
doesn't align with the expectation of eventual success of the encryption,
since the overhead of encryption might be different for the parties,
because both parties may use different CIDs for their outgoing records.
This commit modifies the tests to not take turns between transforms,
but to always use the same transforms for encryption and decryption
during a single round of the test.
The X.509 parsing test suite test_suite_x509parse contains a test
exercising X.509 verification for a valid MD4/MD5 certificate in a
profile which doesn't allow MD4/MD5. This commit adds an analogous
test for MD2.

Manually cherry-picked from ca5bed742f
by taking that patch, replacing KEYPAIR by KEY_PAIR
throughout (renaming applied in this branch), and discarding parts
about import_twice in test_suite_psa_crypto (this test function was
removed from this branch).

With MBEDTLS_USE_PSA_CRYPTO and MBEDTLS_ENTROPY_NV_SEED enabled, the
tests need a seedfile. Since test_suite_entropy is no longer there to
create it, and MBEDTLS_USE_PSA_CRYPTO is now enabled in the full
config, create tests/seedfile explicitly in basic-build-test.sh.
Sometimes, when building the shared target with crypto submodule, one could
get an "No rule to make target '../crypto/library/libmbedcrypto.so'" error.
This is due to two reasons - building in parallel and (probably) an
incomplete/incorrect list of dependencies for certain targets. The proposed
solution is to disable parallel builds with crypto submodule for now.

An issue has been raised here: https://github.com/ARMmbed/mbedtls/issues/2634
Currently the top-level makefile deploys commands to both Mbed TLS and
the submodule. Running make in the "tests" directory builds only the TLS tests.
The top level CMake on the other hand does not have the "tests" target defined,
so it also cannot be used, hence the raw "make".
Previously it was disabled as too experimental, which no longer holds. Also,
this option introduces new APIs, so it's not only about an internal
alternative (as the comment in config.pl used to state) - people who request a
full config should get all of the available APIs.
Adapt all.sh: now all builds with full config will also test this option, and
builds with the default config will test without it. Just to be sure, let's
have a build with full config minus this option.
Update documentation of MBEDTLS_USE_PSA_CRYPTO to reflect the status of the
new APIs it enables in Mbed TLS and why they're still opt-in.
Also enable it in scripts/config.pl full, as well as two storage options that
were only blacklisted from full config because they depended on
MBEDTLS_PSA_CRYPTO_C.
Adapt tests in all.sh:
- tests with submodule enabled (default) no longer need to enable it
explicitly, and no longer need runtime tests, as those are now handled by
all other test cases in this script
- tests with submodule disabled (old default) now need to disable it
explicitly, and execute some runtime tests, as those are no longer tested
anywhere else in this script
Adapt documentation in Readme: remove the section "building with submodule"
and replace it with a new section before the other building sections.
Purposefully don't document how to build not from the submodule, as that
option is going away soon.
Add parameters to psa_copy_key tests for the enrollment algorithm (alg2).
This commit only tests with alg2=0, which is equivalent to not setting
an enrollment algorithm.
When importing a private elliptic curve key, require the input to have
exactly the right size. RFC 5915 requires the right size (you aren't
allowed to omit leading zeros). A different buffer size likely means
that something is wrong, e.g. a mismatch between the declared key type
and the actual data.
Resolve conflicts by performing the following operations:
- Reject changes to files removed during the creation of Mbed Crypto
from Mbed TLS.
- Reject the addition of certificates that would not be used by any
tests, including rejecting the addition of Makefile rules to
generate these certificates.
- Reject changes to error.c referencing modules that are not part of
Mbed Crypto.

generate_key is a more classical name. The longer name was only
introduced to avoid confusion with getting a key from a generator,
which is key derivation, but we no longer use the generator
terminology so this reason no longer applies.
perl -i -pe 's/psa_generate_random_key/psa_generate_key/g' $(git ls-files)
Parametrize finite-field Diffie-Hellman key types with a DH group
identifier, in the same way elliptic curve keys are parametrized with
an EC curve identifier.
Define the DH groups from the TLS registry (these are the groups from
RFC 7919).
Replicate the macro definitions and the metadata tests from elliptic
curve identifiers to DH group identifiers.
Define PSA_DH_GROUP_CUSTOM as an implementation-specific extension for
which domain parameters are used to specify the group.
Generators are mostly about key derivation (currently: only about key
derivation). "Generator" is not a commonly used term in cryptography.
So favor "derivation" as terminology. Call a generator a key
derivation operation structure, since it behaves like other multipart
operation structures. Furthermore, the function names are not fully
consistent.
In this commit, I rename the functions to consistently have the prefix
"psa_key_derivation_". I used the following command:
perl -i -pe '%t = (
psa_crypto_generator_t => "psa_key_derivation_operation_t",
psa_crypto_generator_init => "psa_key_derivation_init",
psa_key_derivation_setup => "psa_key_derivation_setup",

PSA_CRYPTO_GENERATOR_INIT => "PSA_KEY_DERIVATION_OPERATION_INIT",
PSA_GENERATOR_UNBRIDLED_CAPACITY => "PSA_KEY_DERIVATION_UNLIMITED_CAPACITY",
); s/\b(@{[join("|", keys %t)]})\b/$t{$1}/ge' $(git ls-files)

In psa_import_key, change the order of parameters to pass
the pointer where the newly created handle will be stored last.
This is consistent with most other library functions that put inputs
before outputs.
In psa_generate_derived_key, change the order of parameters to pass
the pointer where the newly created handle will be stored last.
This is consistent with most other library functions that put inputs
before outputs.
psa_set_key_lifetime and psa_set_key_id aren't pure setters: they also
set the other attribute in some conditions. Add dedicated tests for
this behavior.
We've observed that sometimes check-names.sh exits unexpectedly with
status 2 and no error message. The failure is not reproducible. This
commits makes the script print a trace if it exits unexpectedly.
Make `mbedtls_x509_subject_alternative_name` to be a single item
rather than a list. Adapt the subject alternative name parsing function,
to receive a signle `mbedtls_x509_buf` item from the subject_alt_names
sequence of the certificate.
In x509_info_subject_alt_name() we silently dropped names that we
couldn't parse because they are not supported or are malformed. (Being
malformed might mean damaged file, but can be a sign of incompatibility
between applications.)
This commit adds code notifying the user that there is something, but
we can't parse it.
Only allow creating keys in the application (user) range. Allow
opening keys in the implementation (vendor) range as well.
Compared with what the implementation allowed, which was undocumented:
0 is now allowed; values from 0x40000000 to 0xfffeffff are now
forbidden.
Change the scope of key identifiers to be global, rather than
per lifetime. As a result, you now need to specify the lifetime of a
key only when creating it.
Record what key ids have been used in a test case and purge them. The
cleanup code no longer requires the key identifiers used in the tests
to be in a certain small range.
Declare algorithms for ChaCha20 and ChaCha20-Poly1305, and a
corresponding (common) key type.
Don't declare Poly1305 as a separate algorithm because it's a one-time
authenticator, not a MAC, so the API isn't suitable for it (no way to
use a nonce).
Split the test function copy_key into two: one for success and one for
failure.
Add failure tests where the attributes specify an incorrect type or size.

If we provide low order element as a public key and the implementation
maps the point in infinity to the origin, we can force the common secret
to be zero.
According to the standard (RFC 7748) this is allowed but in this case
the primitive must not be used in a protocol that requires contributory
behaviour.
Mbed Crypto returns an error when the result is the point in the
infinity and does not map it to the origin. This is safe even if used in
protocols that require contributory behaviour.
This commit adds test cases that verify that Mbed Crypto returns an
error when low order public keys are processed.
The low order elements in the test cases were taken from this website:
https://cr.yp.to/ecdh.html
The tests we had for ECP point multiplication were tailored for test
vectors symulating crypto operations and tested a series of operations
against public test vectors.
This commit adds a test function that exercises a single multiplication.
This is much better suited for negative testing than the preexisting
test.
Only one new test case is added that exercises a fraction of an existing
test, just to make sure that the test is consistent with the existing
test functions.
Read extra data from the domain parameters in the attribute structure
instead of taking an argument on the function call.
Implement this for RSA key generation, where the public exponent can
be set as a domain parameter.
Add tests that generate RSA keys with various public exponents.
After calling psa_get_key_attributes(), call
psa_reset_key_attributes() if the key may have domain parameters,
because that's the way to free the domain parameter substructure in
the attribute structure. Keep not calling reset() in some places where
the key can only be a symmetric key which doesn't have domain
parameters.
Instead of passing a separate parameter for the key size to
psa_generate_key and psa_generator_import_key, set it through the
attributes, like the key type and other metadata.
This commit adds tests to check the behavior of the record encryption
routine `ssl_encrypt_buf` when the buffer surrounding the plaintext is
too small to hold the expansion in the beginning and end (due to IV's,
padding, and MAC).
Each test starts successively increases the space available at the
beginning, end, or both, of the record buffer, and checks that the
record encryption either fails with a BUFFER_TOO_SMALL error, or
that it succeeds. Moreover, if it succeeds, it is checked that
decryption succeeds, too, and results in the original record.
This commit adds tests exercising mutually inverse pairs of
record encryption and decryption transformations for the various
transformation types allowed in TLS: Stream, CBC, and AEAD.
Remove TLS and NET options from config files and scripts.
Note that this fails check-names.sh because options that TLS and NET
files use are no longer present in config.h.
Update persistent_key_load_key_from_storage to the new attribute-based
key creation interface. I tweaked the code a little to make it simpler
and more robust without changing the core logic.
With the attribute-based key creation API, it is no longer possible to
have a handle to a slot that does not hold key material. Remove all
corresponding tests.
Implement attribute querying.
Test attribute getters and setters. Use psa_get_key_attributes instead
of the deprecated functions psa_get_key_policy or
psa_get_key_information in most tests.
Implement the new, attribute-based psa_import_key and some basic
functions to access psa_key_attributes_t. Replace
psa_import_key_to_handle by psa_import_key in a few test functions.
This commit does not handle persistence attributes yet.
This commit starts a migration to a new interface for key creation.
Today, the application allocates a handle, then fills its metadata,
and finally injects key material. The new interface fills metadata
into a temporary structure, and a handle is allocated at the same time
it gets filled with both metadata and key material.
This commit was obtained by moving the declaration of the old-style
functions to crypto_extra.h and renaming them with the to_handle
suffix, adding declarations for the new-style functions in crypto.h
under their new name, and running
perl -i -pe 's/\bpsa_(import|copy|generator_import|generate)_key\b/$&_to_handle/g' library/*.c tests/suites/*.function programs/psa/*.c
perl -i -pe 's/\bpsa_get_key_lifetime\b/$&_from_handle/g' library/*.c tests/suites/*.function programs/psa/*.c
Many functions that are specific to the old interface, and which will
not remain under the same name with the new interface, are still in
crypto.h for now.
All functional tests should still pass. The documentation may have
some broken links.
Since the format change for EC public key import from
SubjectPublicKeyInfo to the ECPoint content, it is no longer possible
to import a key with metadata marking it as ECDH-only. This test was
converted systematically but now no longer has any purpose since the
public key is now like any other public key.
Allow either the key derivation step or the key agreement step to
fail.
These tests should be split into three groups: key derivation setup
tests with an algorithm that includes a key agreement step, and
multipart key agreement failure tests, and raw key agreement failure
tests.

The documentation doesn't explicitly say whether it's allowed or not.
This currently works with the default software implementation, but
only by accident. It isn't guaranteed to work with new ciphers or with
alternative implementations of individual ciphers, and it doesn't work
with the PSA wrappers. So don't do it.
Run ssl-opt.sh on x86_32 with ASan. This may detect bugs that only
show up on 32-bit platforms, for example due to size_t overflow.
For this component, turn off some memory management features that are
not useful, potentially slow, and may reduce ASan's effectiveness at
catching buffer overflows.
Merge the Mbed Crypto development branch a little after
mbedcrypto-1.0.0 into the PSA Crypto API 1.0 beta branch a little
after beta 2.
Summary of merge conflicts:
* Some features (psa_copy_key, public key format without
SubjectPublicKeyInfo wrapping) went into both sides, but with a few
improvements on the implementation side. For those, take the
implementation side.
* The key derivation API changed considerably on the API side. This
merge commit generally goes with the updated API except in the tests
where it keeps some aspects of the implementation.
Due to the divergence between the two branches on key derivation and
key agreement, test_suite_psa_crypto does not compile. This will be
resolved in subsequent commits.

This just happened to work for GCM and CCM.
