### NVIDIA, no sign of progress ### NVIDIA, no sign of progress
Just after the release of the RTX 4060 Ti, a card that is in a terrible spot for emulation, NVIDIA manages to do something worse by selling yet another expensive 8 GB GPU, this time even more cut down. Tthe new (at the time of writing) driver release that adds support for the RTX 4060, 536.40, hasnt introduced any regression for yuzu.
The RTX 4060 is using the 128-bit GDDR6 combination again, but this time it is attacking the two fronts that affect emulation performance the most, cache, which is down from 32MB to 24MB when compared to the RTX 4060 Ti, and PCIe bandwidth, which is halved to just an 8X link.
For emulation this means the new card is weaker than the RTX 3060 it replaces (the 12GB model).
The lower cache and PCIe bandwidth puts it on the territory of the GTX1650 if users want to use resolutions higher than 1.5X scaling.

In more happy news, the new driver release that adds support for this card, 536.40, hasnt introduced any regression for yuzu so far.
So its safe to update, just not “safe to upgrade” from older hardware yet. So its safe to update, just not “safe to upgrade” from older hardware yet.
Maybe the RTX 5000 series will be a more viable option. Maybe the RTX 5000 series will be a more viable option.
