Security Policy

Supported Versions

Use this section to tell people about which versions of your project are currently being supported with security updates.

Reporting a Vulnerability

Use this section to tell people how to report a vulnerability.

Tell them where to go, how often they can expect to get an update on a reported vulnerability, what to expect if the vulnerability is accepted or declined, etc.

youtube-dl Download Page Remember youtube-dl requires Python version 2.6, 2.7, or 3.2+ to work except for Windows exe.

Windows exe requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (x86) and does not require Python that is already embedded into the binary.

To install it right away for all UNIX users (Linux, OS X, etc.), type: sudo curl -L https://yt-dl.org/downloads/latest/youtube-dl -o /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl

sudo chmod a+rx /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl If you do not have curl, you can alternatively use a recent wget: sudo wget https://yt-dl.org/downloads/latest/youtube-dl -O /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl

sudo chmod a+rx /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl You can also use pip: sudo pip install --upgrade youtube_dl This command will update youtube-dl if you have already installed it. See the pypi page for more information.

You can use Homebrew if you have it: brew install youtube-dl To check the signature, type: sudo wget https://yt-dl.org/downloads/latest/youtube-dl.sig -O youtube-dl.sig gpg --verify youtube-dl.sig /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl rm youtube-dl.sig The following GPG keys will be used to sign the binaries and the git tags:
