Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is playable

Issues:

  • lighting is too bright on some cutscenes
  • anisotropic filtering causes cloud rendering issues
  • stuttering and frame drops on some high-end machines
  • Rainbow flickering is still present while using Mesa OPENGL and sometimes Vulkan with AMD GPUs
  • Black Grass glitch appears when using windows Vulkan drivers with AMD GPUs.

Game-specific configuration:

  • Set GPU emulation accuracy to high
    • Setting to extreme improves framerate, but introduces issues with facial animations in cutscenes.
  • Anisotropic filtering to default
  • For AMD GPUs, the Rainbow Flickering and Black Grass Glitch issues doesn't seem to happen while using AMDVLK Vulkan drivers.

AMD GPU users using Mesa should set the environment variable AMD_DEBUG=nohyperz to resolve black texture issues.

Setting GPU Accuracy to Extreme seems to increase fps, reduce stuttering and frame drops, but requires further testing. Tested on RX 570 8GB, Ryzen 1600AF 3.7Ghz with RADEONSI Vulkan and OPENGl, AMDVLK, RADV and Windows Vulkan drivers.
